Bio-impedance BIA – Body Composition
BIA (bio-impedance) measures resistance (energy dissipation) and reactance (stored energy) through a very low electrical current (below 1 milliampere, in compliance with the standards of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).
Electrodes are placed on the arms and legs to obtain a measurement of body impedance. The BIA 450 by BioDynamics, FDA-approved and used at institutions such as the Mayo Clinic (USA), is recognized for its reliability.
