A professional and compassionate approach, grounded in an in-depth analysis of your vitality
The naturopathic measurements offered at Naturopathie du Plateau are complementary observation tools designed to gather general information about vitality. They are integrated into the naturopathic consultation and serve as a basis for educational naturopathic suggestions, which are prepared after the session review.
⚠️ Each measurement is strictly non-diagnostic. They are not intended to establish a medical diagnosis or replace tests or follow-up performed by a physician. If an unusual or potentially concerning result is observed, you will be invited to consult your physician or another healthcare professional for further evaluation and appropriate follow-up.
Bio-impedance BIA – Body Composition
BIA (bio-impedance) measures resistance (energy dissipation) and reactance (stored energy) through a very low electrical current (below 1 milliampere, in compliance with the standards of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).
Electrodes are placed on the arms and legs to obtain a measurement of body impedance. The BIA 450 by BioDynamics, FDA-approved and used at institutions such as the Mayo Clinic (USA), is recognized for its reliability. This observation allows for the following indices:
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Basal metabolic rate at rest (calories expended at rest)
Adipose tissue index (subcutaneous and visceral fat)
Fat-free mass index
Active mass index (intracellular water, muscles, organs, blood, immune system)
Inactive mass index (extracellular water, plasma, bones, cartilage, tendons, minerals)
Intracellular and extracellular hydration index
Cell membrane integrity index

Chemstrip 10 – Urinary pH and Density
The Chemstrip 10 is used in naturopathy as a field tool. During a consultation, only urinary pH and urinary density are observed as complementary indicators. If an unusual parameter is observed, the person is invited to consult their physician so that appropriate medical tests may be determined if necessary.

Important to know
Naturopathy is an educational and complementary approach, practiced by naturopaths who are not healthcare professionals in Quebec and whose practice has no medical intent. Naturopathic consultations do not in any way replace regular medical follow-ups, which must be maintained at all times.
👉 You must continue to consult your health care professionals (physician, pharmacist, nutritionist, physiotherapist, etc.) for any medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment. Naturopathic advice is provided for informational purposes only.
