Naturopathic Tests

Naturopathic tests may be offered during in-person consultations to gather detailed information and support an in-depth assessment, helping to guide your naturopathic evaluation more effectively.
Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) Test
This is a terrain assessment test that measures resistance (energy dissipation) and reactance (stored energy) in ohms (unit of measurement) in response to a low electrical current (below 1 milliampere, compliant with the standards of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation). The measurements are taken using electrodes placed on the arms and legs. The combination of resistance and reactance produces what is known as impedance.

The BioDynamics BIA 450, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has been used in numerous clinical studies, including at the renowned Mayo Clinic in the United States.

This test provides measurements for the following parameters:
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) – Calories burned at rest
  • Fat Tissue Index – Subcutaneous and visceral fat
  • Lean Mass Index – Mass excluding fat tissue
  • Active Mass Index – Intracellular water, muscles, organs, blood, immune system
  • Inactive Mass Index – Extracellular water, blood plasma, bones, cartilage, tendons, minerals
  • Intracellular and Extracellular Hydration Index

Chemstrip 10 Test
The Chemstrip 10 is a urine test used to assess specific biological parameters that provide insights into metabolic balance and overall health. In naturopathy, this test helps evaluate certain key markers related to the body’s internal environment.

Since naturopathy is based on a terrain-based approach, only the following parameters are considered in a naturopathic consultation:
  • pH Level – Reflects acid-base balance, which is essential for metabolic health.
  • Urine Specific Gravity – Provides insights into hydration levels and kidney function.
If any other parameters suggest a potential imbalance, you will be referred to the medical system for further testing and an official medical diagnosis.
